Our Mission

The mission of SF Tikes and SF STEAM Academies are to provide developmentally appropriate, interdisciplinary education grounded in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Through project-based learning, individualized support, and a dedicated Spanish language acquisition track, we promote language-rich learning experiences. We cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and social-emotional growth in a safe, inclusive learning environment while preparing students with the academic and linguistic foundations necessary for success in a global society.

Our Vision

There is no way to know what the “jobs of tomorrow” will be for the children who attend our school. They are likely not invented yet! In addition to literacy, history, science concepts, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, there are timeless skillsets that we believe all people should have:

  • Fairness & equity

  • How to enter into and navigate friendship

  • Empathy

  • Turn-taking

  • Problem solving & conflict resolution

  • Working together & communicating

  • Perspective-taking

  • Critical thinking

  • Bodily autonomy

  • Respect for living creatures and the earth

This is achieved via children and adults working together throughout the day, planned experiences, establishing relationships, modeling, and in-the-moment coaching.
